Inside this Pikmi Pops surprise plush toy
Doughmis took the scented plush idea and turned it into food. Each little animal sits inside a donut shell that smells of the glaze it is painted as, and the pack holds several at once, so the surprise is spread out rather than spent in a single twist. Girls who had the earlier pops usually describe these as the sweetest smelling of the lot.
The format suits play better than the lollipops did. The shells stack, the characters sit upright, and a shelf of them reads as a cake counter rather than a toy box. There is no welcome card here — the cast is printed on the sleeve — which some collectors miss and others prefer. Years after the season closed these are still the cute, super giftable end of the line, and the cool part is that every friend has a scent of its own. That is the whole magic.
Crack the centre
The donut opens at the middle and a small squishy jelly Pikmi is inside. The case is designed to stack with the small and large DoughMis, so a shelf of them builds into a tower rather than a pile.
The scents
Cinnamon, chocolate glaze and strawberry jelly run through the range, with over forty donuts in total. Watch for the Squish N Rise versions, which give under a thumb the way real dough does.
