Pikmi Pops seasons explained

Pikmi Pops surprise and scented plush toys in short

Three numbered seasons, then a run of named lines. That is the whole map. Each season swapped the cast, tweaked the scented formula and reprinted the welcome card, so a little plush animal can usually be dated by its stitching and its smell alone.

Knowing which is which is the difference between a box of cute toys and a collection. Girls trading in the playground worked it out by eye; the rest of us use the printed guide. The surprise packs never marked the season on the shell, which is exactly why this gets confusing years later. Season one is the plainest, season three the most varied, and the named lines after that went super specific — donuts, puffs, pushable bases you play with rather than display. Each one is a cool little world, each one hides a friend you will not find in the others, and the magic of the pops is that they never told you which world you were buying.

Pikmi Pops numbered its first three waves and then switched to names. If you are sorting a box of loose packs, the numbering and the contents list are the two things that date a pop.

Season 1

The founding format. A lollipop dome, mini plush with dangler strings, paper messages and the first cast of characters. Surprise items were simple — stickers and clips rather than the gel pens that came later.

Season 2

A wider cast and the first finish variants. Very Velvet editions and Fancy Foil super sets appear here, which is where the rarity tiers that collectors trade on actually begin.

Season 3

The contents got noisier. Temporary tattoos, charms, sticky notes and gel pens joined the four surprise items, so two Season 3 packs opened side by side rarely hold the same things. This is the season most people remember.

After the numbers

From there the brand named its lines instead of counting them. DoughMis are donuts, Cheeki Puffs are shimmer, Pajama Llamas are the popcorn series llamas, Bubble Drops are the squeezable ones, Jelly Dreams are the translucent twinkle fairies, and Pikmi Flips turn inside out. None of them carry a season number, so the line name is the only label you get.
