Pikmi Pops Surprise Packs

The format the brand was built on: a lollipop dome that unscrews over a scented mini plush. We keep both sizes and the Season 3 pack on this shelf.

What this shelf was

This is the shelf the brand was built on. A scented plush animal, a welcome card and a handful of surprise pieces, all folded into a lollipop shell that you twist rather than tear. Girls queued for these in the first season and the format barely changed across the years that followed.

Sizes are the only real decision. A medium holds two little characters and the collector guide, a small holds one and costs about half. Both open the same way and both smell the same. The cool part, and the reason people still buy sealed ones, is that nobody knows which friend is inside until the lid turns — super simple as a toy goes, still cute enough to display once the surprise is spent, and the only one of the pops where the magic is in the opening rather than the object. Children play with the plush; collectors keep the shell.

A medium pop is the full experience — two mini plush, four surprise items, two paper messages, three dangler strings, a collector guide and the stand the lollipop sits in. A small pop trades the stand and the guide for a lower price and one plush. Both use the same twist open dome, so the ritual is identical.

Which size to open first

If this is a gift and the person has never seen one, take the medium. The stand turns the empty dome into a display piece, and the guide tells you which character you just met. If you are topping up a collection, the small pop is the cheaper way to roll the dice again.

Rare, ultra rare and super sets

Not every pop is equal. Very Velvet special editions and Fancy Foil super sets were seeded through the run at long odds, and they are the reason sealed packs still change hands. Nothing on the box tells you which one you have — you only find out after the dome comes off.
